Youngsters Baba Rahman, Daniel Amartey, Frank Acheampong, David Accam and Kwesi Appiah got their Afcon debut call-ups.
Norway-based striker Mahatma Otoo has been given a late call-up to replace injured Abdul-Majeed Waris.
Schlupp was excluded from the squad because of an injury that will rule him out of action for about three weeks.
