There has been a trend by most Ghanaian and African movie producers for some time now. Although the producers have now been able to strengthen the movie piracy laws, they are on the other hand busily pirating their music counterparts by using their songs in their movies without notorization.
The latest one of which has Venus films, Abdul Salam Mumuni using the song titled ‘yebeko’ which is legally owned by Rudeboi music, recorded by DeeVS ft Bisa in london 2 years ago. Investigations done by NorbertBennett.com revels that Venus films used the song in their 2015 production ‘What my wife doesn’t know’ without the consent of the management that owns the song. For which the label is seeking legal advice to take the neccesary actions. We have gathered enough details about the case including an audio conversation with Abdul Salam Mumuni the CEO of Venus Films.
Interview with salam:
We are yet to interview DeeVS and Rudeboi for their take on the case and how far they are willing to take it. But from the interview with Abdul Salam Mumuni, he had assumed that the said music which was added and authorized by KD belonged to KD himself. This we found quite disturbing because he had been earlier alleged to have used other sound tracks from people local and foreign.
Our closest source to the music body indicated that currently Abdul Salam Mumuni has sought to use influential Bisa Kdei to intervene on his behalf.
