A fire that broke out on New Year’s Day at the Stallion Industrial and Investment Company car park in Tema burnt 31 new saloon vehicles.
Fourteen other vehicles, which were also parked inside the car port, were partly destroyed.
The Deputy National Public Relations Officer of the Ghana National Fire Service,(GNFS), Divisional Officer Prince Billy Anaglate told the Daily Graphic that the Service responded to a distress call around 3:52pm and within three minutes, the first fire engine from Industrial Area Station of the GNFS arrived at the scene.
He said because of the intensity of the fire, three additional fire tenders and firefighters from Tema Community One and Ashaiman were called to help quench the fire.
Mr Anaglate said the team finally extinguished the fire at about 8:05 pm.
The workers of the facility who arrived at the scene looked on helplessly, as the fire was raging on.
Mr Anaglate indicated that an investigation would be conducted to ascertain the cause.
