Ghana’s former president, John Agyekum Kufuor has said Ghana is a fortunate state to have an economic brains like the New Patriotic Party’s Vice Presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
Mr Kufuor who chaired a public lecture addressed by Dr. Bawumia at the National Theater in Accra Ghana on Thursday September 8, 2016 said he was proud to be a part of a programme that sought to shed light on the foundations on which Ghana’s economic fortunes were borne.
“The nation must count itself fortunate to have a son like Bawumia who roundly fits the role of a needed analyst” Mr Kufuor said in his acceptance remarks.
“I accept to chair the proceedings and entreat everyone to give the requisite attention…to get an insight, we must be held with the analysis of the foundation on which our economy stands.”
The lecture, dubbed “The State of the Ghanaian Economy – A Foundation of Concrete or Straw”, is one Mr Kufuor is of the opinion is “arguably the most topical for this nation.”
“Everybody in Ghana wants to know what lies ahead economically and socially for the country.”
As part of his lecture, Dr. Bawumia showed the difference between two separate eras of economic management, the competent and the incompetent eras.
