With only one song released on the market, Sista Afia (real name, Francesca Duncan Williams) says she is into showbiz, first and foremost, to please herself.
“In this world, you can’t please everyone, you need to do what you think is right for you and feel free. People will always criticise you when you start something positive but when you stand firm and continue with what you believe in, people will gradually accept it,” she told Showbiz on Monday.
Sista Afia’s posture was obviously in anticipation of what people are likely to say about her manner of dressing which she herself described as “provocative”. The 23-year old musician believes with her talent and a little bit of exposure, her journey of becoming famous in no time is on course.
“Everyone has something he or she wants to be identified with, Kim Kardashian became famous through her sees tape and I want to be known with my way of dressing”
According to Sista Afia who is out with a new single, Kro Kro No featuring Bisa Kdei, she recognises that she has very good looking oranges on her chest which she does not mind flaunting.
Asked how she entered the music industry, Sista Afia who doubles as a medical nurse said she had had the passion to sing since she was a child and she recently thought the timing was right to come out with her own song.
Born to Joe Essoun and Madam Perpetual Duncan Williams, Sista Afia said her favourite Ghanaian musicians are E.L, Efya and Kaakie all of whom she plans to do collaborations with some day.
“I want everyone to watch out for Sista Afia because I have a lot for Ghanaians. I may be new, but very soon Sista Afia would become a household name” she said.
