Lead counsel for the New Patriotic Party [NPP] in the historic election petition case, Lawyer Philip Addison says in case there is another election petition in the country; he will not lead the NPP again.
He explained that, the procedure is “hectic” and a “waste of time” for any political party to pursue any election petition.
“It’s real hectic because we have to go through a whole lot of documents. I will not want such situation to happen again. I might not lead the party [NPP] in any election petition case. We have able lawyers in the party…someone else can lead the party as well,” he said on Adom FM.
August 29th, 2014 is exactly a year the nine Justices led by Justice William Atuguba ruled over the historic Election Petition that challenged President John Mahama’s legitimacy as President at the Supreme Court of the land.
Philip Addison led the legal team of the petitioners [Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia and Mr. Jake Obetsebi Lamptey] when they presented to the Supreme Court a geographic representation of the spread of the “constitutional, statutory violations and irregularities” that they claimed affected the conduct and outcome of the December 7, 2012 presidential polls.
