A Nigerian businessman is in the grips of the Police CID for importing fake cosmetics products into Ghana.

The yet-to-be named suspect is accused of importing fake bio-oil used for the treatment of stretch marks and scars.

The Food and Drugs Authority is currently conducting a laboratory test on the fake products.

Speaking to Starr News, the Head of Communications at the FDA James Lartey said the continuous use of the products will cause great harm to customers.

“The continuous use of it (the cream) can even end up causing skin cancer. The original product is imported by Ernest Chemist, but we have noticed that the fake ones look very much like the original one, they have tried to copy it”.
