Ghanaian designer Sarah Christian after studying Communication Design at KNUST is ready to take the fashion industry on.
“I think it was art but fashion always interests me and I have been following and practicing it for five years.”
The designer tried choosing many names but everyone kept calling her designs Sarah Christian and she had no option but to settle on that name.
“My excitement to dress people influence a lot of what I do, if I feel like making a particular dress, I design the dress with the person in mind.”
“I doubt I have competition from Ghana because I see everyone doing their own thing in their own lane. What I do are my points of view. What I do basically tell people what my ideas are about cuts, shapes, color and stitching is. When you wear a Sarah Christian, you are wearing something I have thought about for years to create for a purpose. And it excites me to see people wearing my designs.”
“People wear what they want to wear based on how they are feeling, or where they are going or how they want to be seen. So the design they choose tells you something about the person and an opinion of the person and the designer.”
Sarah has designs strictly for ladies who want to be bold when they step out.
“I have designed for Becca, Irene, Efya and a few others. I am trying to find myself now and I am not trying to keep myself in a box by limiting what I do to the people who inspire me.”
Sarah Christian’s long term fashion dream is to have shops around the world because she believes fashion “is growing but it’s bigger than what Ghana is doing now.”
