Hon. Kwasi Oppong Ababio who is vying for the Sunyani East seat on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has been using vehicle of the state in aid of his parliamentary ambition.
The Sunyani MCE seems unperturbed for embossing his campaign posters on the official vehicle.
He admitted that his posters are on the vehicle but “he does not see any abuse of incumbency.”
According to him there’s nothing wrong for him to use the vehicle as the precedent is set by the President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama.
“The assembly has so many vehicles but it is just the one that I’m using as a Municipal Chief Executive which has the posters on it,” he told Kwabena Obeng Akrofi on Ark in the Morning Tuesday.
He argued whether there’s any law which bans him from using the vehicle for his personal gains.
“Can you tell the President not to use state vehicles for campaigning because he is the sitting President?” Hon. Kwasi Oppong Ababio queried. “You don’t expect him to hire vehicles for campaigning when there’s a state vehicle at his disposal.”
