We refer to the publication in the Graphic Showbiz dated 26th January 2015 by Kofi Duah that was further published by various websites including Ghanafilla.net with a rather imprecise headline ‘SMF Artiste Vybrant Faya Attacks Shatta Wale’

The unfortunate headline suggested an outright image of harsh opprobrium for Vybrant Faya, tenets that are contrary to his brand. The reporter further erred on the side of fact and accuracy in his deliberate attempt to merge two brands Vybrant Faya and Shatta Movement Family, in a sharp comparison with another dancehall musician, Bandana.

The writer erroneously stated in the story that ‘…. despite the calls by people on various social media platforms for Vibrant Faya to give himself a different brand and identity, it seems the Mampi hitmaker is not ready to heed to the call’

We want to state categorically that the above information is false. There has not been a single instance where any fan (out of the thousands of followers on social media) has ever expressed displeasure or dislike for Vybrant Faya’s name or his brand. Vybrant Faya has an active online presence and is in constant interaction with his fans. Never has he or the SMF social media team received any complaints about people’s ‘displeasure’ with any of their activities as wrongly captured by the story. The writer further stated; ‘Vibrant Faya had the displeasure of fans of Shatta Wale last year, when the Shatta Movement group made claims on various media platforms that Shatta Wale betrayed the group when he registered the Shatta Movement at the Copyright Office without their consent after he left the group’.

This allegation is unfounded and untrue, seen by us as a move –deliberate or otherwise to shift away the attention Vybrant Faya is currently enjoying including recent nomination in this year’s Ghana DJs Awards together with Daddy Lumba, Sarkodie, Stonebouy and other musicians (all in contention for Best DJ Song of the Year category). His song Mampi has again been nominated in the GN Bank People’s Choice Awards’ popular song category.

Vybrant Faya want to inform the general public that neither him nor the Shatta Movement Family had attacked any dancehall musician or any other artiste for that matter. The two brands respects the various players in the industry and at no time would like to involve themselves in any form of personal attacks.

Vybrant Faya is a dancehall artiste produced and managed by the Shatta Movement Family –SMF, a lifestyle brand, which is also the biggest dancehall record label in Africa. These are two independent brands working together for the good of dancehall music and culture in Africa through their new style of music termed upperclass dancehall. The brands are strictly opposed to violence or any act of radicalism.
