Rihanna says ‘thanks for voting!’

Star singer Robyn ‘Rihanna‘ went home with the biggest prize of the night at the 2012 edition of the MTV Video Music Awards held on Thursday night, September 6, 2012.
Riri beat the likes of pop acts Katy PerryM.I.A and ‘familiar friend’ Drake to clinch the top prize of the night  – ‘Best Video of the Year’ award. Katy Perry and M.I.A however still walked away with other awards.  Katy bagged the ‘Best Art Direction’ award while M.I.A went home with the ‘Best Cinematography’ and ‘Best Direction’ awards.
Chris Brown beat Drake to clinch the award for ‘Best Male Video’ but Drake later won for ‘Best Hip Hop Video’ award; for his collaboration with label mate Lil Wayne on ‘HYFR‘. Host Kevin Hart made a shocking move by calling out both acts (Brown and Drake) and demanded they ‘squash the beef’ between them.
Rihanna, X-Factor alumnus One Direction, Frank Ocean and Pink were some of the top performers of the night.
